Anyway, it's the easiest, most reliable, and most forgiving cake recipe I know, and has the added benefit of being lactose-free, which makes it perfect for large functions.

Also? Yummy.

Why am I awake? I have to get up in a few hours for travelfest. Want to be asleep right now. Instead I'm watching my daughter sleep.

This is the way it was with my mom, and it's wonderfully peaceful for the patient. Not so terrible for the watchers, either, no pain. But the waiting is difficult. More hugs.

Our angelic neighbors took Dylan for a playdate this morning and he's been gone now almost 4 hours. The apartment is so clean it's scary, I've reorganized the kitchen junk drawer and put up hooks in the front hall to hang keys. Also set up the Harmony remote to watch online video on the TV (from my laptop) and flipped the mattress.

So whatever this baby girl has been waiting on, I'm pretty sure it's been done now!
