Well some friends of Buffy played a funny joke and they took her stuff and now she wants us to help get it back from her friends who sleep all day and have no tans.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm glad you're cozy and safe from the snow, Liese. Safe travels~ma to your SO.

I took the kids outside to jump around a bit, but it was way too fucking cold to stay out today. I'm not used to it being so seasonably cold in LA!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

He made it in to the music store which is...not what I thought he was trying to do. His midafternoon lessons cancelled, so he's going to teach the first three and decide what to do after that. If it had been a normal day, he'd teach all day and then have rehearsal at night. But I think he may be safer staying in town tonight. If he had to at this point, he could crash at the store. But I don't want to tell him what to do, because he's seen the conditions and it's him driving. Of course I'd rather have him cancel and come safely home, but I can't tell if that's the right call or not.

In the meantime, I have watered All The Plants and brought in All The Firewood and I still have excess nervous energy to burn. What next, sweep All The Hearth?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

AND early release! God, I love that my boss doesn't give a shit about her job anymore.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I have made it to the liquor store; I'm making sangria, but did not get Gran Marnier (too pricey; D's ex left a bottle behind and I gleefully used it last year) but I did get triple sec to soak the fruit in tonight, once I make it to the grocery store.

I got a bottle of Guinness, too, for the chocolate stout bundt cake I will be making. And Prosecco to ring in the new year!

We are having a small NYE party, about 15 people plus 2 8 year olds (upstairs). My sister and another couple are staying the night, and I am making waffles and bacon the next morning.

Ooh, that reminds me, I have to get cute tights when I make my grocery run tonight!

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Oh, you can get individual bottles of Guinness? Excellent! I got what looks like a good recipe for Irish Stew from Penzey's catalog, and it calls for a bottle of the stuff, which I have never liked to drink by itself.

At my HyVee liquor store you can. I'm not fond of Guinness, but I like it IN things. It was about $2.50.

We have no NYE plans, and that seems just as well at the moment. I guess we'll celebrate at home with the kids. Sparkling apple juice for them and champagne for us.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

We were going to have the kids over for fondue, but then I got sick. So then I said, well, let's just do the fondue ourselves. And then the storm came in. So there's no way I'm sending the SO to the grocery for chunks of swiss cheese and beef tenderloin and shrimp. So yeah, no NYE plans here.

But! On the plus side, while the SO's in town, he's got the nook hooked up to the store's free wifi and is downloading books. So if he does get home, we can be stuck with lots of reading material!

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I have to do the same thing every year. Jon works, so I'll be there.
