And I know people were complaining about the slavish similarities to the UK version
Honestly, most people not us haven't seen the original so I accept that they are going to borrow while they try to get an audience.
Second fave was probably the "drive from Switzerland to Blackpool on one tank of gas" challenge. Did James ever make it at all?
They all made it. I have no idea how.
Someone must have been replaced their gas tanks with menorahs.
what channel does Top Gear: US come on? i'm kind of intrigued.
Our friend Aaron Gold is a consulting producer on the show and he is really digging it.
He's helping make tv that amuses me!
It's on History. Go figure...
JZ, I read a lot of reviews, esp on coffeegeek.com, before I bought an espresso machine. While I've had to pinch my pennies most of my adult life, I'm a big fan of buying things that are quality and repairable (where the repairs cost less than buying a whole new one), even if they cost more, over buying something that's initially affordable but is low quality, breaks and leads to yet another purchase.
Here's their guide to selecting and buying an espresso machine: [link]

Jeremy was the one who cracked me up. He deliberately used a car that, according to its mileage and tank size, was not supposed to make it, drove through France burning up as much gas as possible (even heating the unused passenger seat), and still made it to Blackpool!
Jeremy was the one who cracked me up.
He was so thinking ahead. He was supposed to run out of gas at his house. Surprise!
That was a great ep. I might find it on Netflix to rewatch once I clear off my dvr today.
I clear off my dvr today.
Oh, that reminds me--I used my Get Well Soon gift certificate from Amazon that I got from my co-workers on the last season of Doctor Who, so I can clean my dvr of all but the Christmas ep. That'll get rid of almost all of my queue, except for Sherlock and a few old eps of Criminal Minds.
Another UK fave ep is the Botswana special. That was just about a perfect ep, with great interaction with the locals, cars both terrific (Oliver!) and problematic (Jeremy's Beatta coupe), fun side trips (watching the tourist's amazing comb-over instead of the elephants drinking from the river), suspense over whether the cars were actually going to make it, and the ever looming threat of the Beetle lying in wait.
