Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

zuisa, that's really cool.

I can't find any decent memory cards that work with my ancient DSLR. I "organised" them before my last trip, and now all I can find 32MB. Which, you know, 8 pictures at my default resolution. Where did I put them? Don't make me go back to Best Buy. After buying the fancy SDHC cards that are too newfangled.

So exciting, zuisa!!

May you find adequate and timely food, Kathy, and may your visit go well and give you great news!

I went to the grocery story and added some applesauce to my shopping cart, so when I came home, I popped it open and had a few spoonfulls for a very belated and small lunch. Now I'm having the remainder of my Wendy's chili from Tuesday.

My weigh-in was very happymaking! When I had my surgery on 11/29, I was exactly 450 pounds. As of today, 12/23, I am 422!!! 28 pounds in 25 days, yay! I was hoping for 425 by the end of the year, so I'm way ahead of schedule. I'll probably be at 415 by NYE. My next weigh-in is at the surgeon's office on 1/6, when I'm hoping I'll be down to 410 at least.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call over and see if the pool's sign-in office is open. If so, I'm going to go for a swim. If not, I'll have to wait until Sunday, but that's okay, too.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Dead media for the win! Go magnetic tape.

Right? I was so glad to realize I still have a working tape player, because my tapes are awesome.

Our wings are not tired.

Kathy, I love reading about your progress. Thanks for sharing so openly.

I fear the scales are going the other way for me. It would be so much easier for me if food just wasn't so frakking yummy. Fer realz.

I'm at work (in the office) and feeling pretty damned virtuous about it. But I am not actually doing anything so I don't deserve to feel smug.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Too true. I took Maggie and Emmett to Zazie for breakfast yesterday. Maggie had the egg nog soaked French toast. I had the Eggs Genvieve (black forest ham, fontina and avocado). Mmmm. This morning I swung by the Boulange after dropping off Matilda and picked up pastries, and split a Croque Monsieur.

Then I took them to Chinatown and North Beach and split two foccacia bread sandwiches at Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store.

Then we staggered home and had Bi-Rite ice cream.

So, yeah. Going the wrong way for the holiday.

Oh shit! Yesterday was Onerous Task Day and we forgot.

Time to reschedule.

That's why I eventually decided on having the surgery. I love tasty food so much, and I always seemed to have problems stopping after a certain portion size. I never binged to the bulimia level, but I never was able to stop eating some Ben&Jerry's ice cream after only a bowl of it, but would have to have the entire pint. I even did that with a half-gallon of ice cream occasionally--I'd start with an Edy's container and then not realize how much I'd eaten until I was scraping the bottom of it. When I'd make egg salad with a dozen eggs, I'd eat just about all of it in one night. Even something as healthy as some TJ's ginger carrots, I'd make up the entire bag and then eat the whole thing for dinner.

So, for me, surgery was the best way to go.

Showing up is 90 percent.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Okay, I've bought all my Dad's Christmas presents already, but now the complete series of The Wire is today's Gold Box deal at Amazon, and that was on his wish list. So I'm torn.

By the way, the complete series of The Wire is today's Gold Box deal.

And...I found a batch of other crap-level SD cards. Grr. Best Buy twice in one day, on top of a visit to Fry's. I'm a masochist.

But! Last meeting is complete. I just have to email out some project info, and I'm done for the YEAR.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh shit! Yesterday was Onerous Task Day and we forgot.

ha! Oh wait, I mean, ooops! Must get right on that!
