I think when two people actually want to get married, it's hard to screw up the proposal. But my DH says that the wedding is all about the bride, the proposal is all about the fiance. So maybe instead of thinking of it as a gimmicky proposal, think of it as men who enjoy a grandiose romantic gesture and figure this is their moment.

My former intern just got engaged. To the girl I more or less introduced him to. She came out to visit this weekend, met his folks in ABQ. But I didn`t hear if there was a big ol` proposal story. I don`t think he bought her a ring, though.
