Wash: Don't fall asleep now. Sleepiness is weakness of character. Ask anyone. You're acting captain. Know what happens you fall asleep now? Zoe: Jayne slits my throat, and takes over. Wash: That's right. Zoe: And we can't stop it.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yes. We are terribly old. It is very sad. But we are still managing to straggle up to our keyboards so all is well. We are why I get all in a snit about people who disparage internet communities. We have been together through birth and death and marriages and divorces and illness and good fortune. It is not fake people! This is not a fake relationship. I have known you over a decade, as opposed to internet disparagers whom I have only known the merest smidgen of time. Harumph.

This was pretty beautiful.

The only positive thing that I associate with 9/11 was the way we all got each other through it. Really. And it changed how I thought about the Buffistas, from "these are the people I talk about Buffy with [and they're smart, funny, and fabulously weird]," to "these are my people."

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I really thought this board was older than 8 yrs. I guess I'm confusing it with the precursors. So when I said I hadn't been here regularly since 2001, clearly I was wrong.

Still gronktastic. I set the alarm because it will take me 1.5 hours to pubtrans to the theater where I'm seeing "Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why is Everybody Talkin' About Him)?"

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

No, we were together for much longer than 8 years. It's just this damn-it-all-we'll-build-our-own version is eight years old.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, the name Buffistas pre-whatevers buffistas.org by many years.

State's attorney race is finally over. Incumbent conceded, finally! I guess that means we're gonna keep out police commissioner after all...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think the term Buffistas dates from 2000, but the Buffy threads on TT go back to 1997.

Oh, I know that. I was just thinking the Phoenix board was older than 8 years.

Coding and Sleeping

Gross said. "But if you have lust in your eyes, you've committed adultery in your heart."

Well this is the crux of the problem isn't it. I think Gross needs to do something to curb the problem of men being tempted to commit adultery by thinking, "hey, she's attractive". He should advocate that, when in public, women should wear some sort of all-covering attire to make sure they can't inspire lust.
