Plus: I thought that the youth of today was supposed to be MORE tech savvy - why is the youth that I work with less?
About the phone? The youth of today don't use phones -- at least not for talking. Is the stereotype.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Dear Student: When there is a hold on your account, do not come into my office and ask me why. And then when I say "you owe us money", have the response be "so, I can just go pay that right now, right?" WTF? If you have the money, why didn't you pay it EONS ago, like WHEN YOU GOT THE EFFING BILL!!!!!
Or their computers. . . there was an issue earlier where we were reimaging the computers and I told everyone to move anything they wanted to keep to the share (networked) drive or to a disk or flashdrive and more than one lost all their work because they moved t hings to a folder on their desktop.
Got a wakeup call from the liberry letting me know my ILL arrived. So I'll be moseying over there today.
OK, here's why I actually love my job. I was thinking, Should I work late again tonight, I really don't feel like it, need to go to the drug store, wah wah wah. And then I remembered that here, "late" is 5:30. That is not late! Not when I get here at 9!
Misha Collins is also batshit insane and a fandom nutter. He was an intern at the White House, worked at NPR, is a published poet, heads a charity, is a distance runner, and enjoys working fans into a complete lather by being a crazy person. I might fangirl him a wee bit.
Married his high school sweetheart, who is herself a published author of a very instructive how-to manual.

Wow nice! I'm usually one of the last people leaving here 5:40 - 6 usually but I'm also one of the last getting in, I think.
I have a totally irrational thing about working hours, like, I think I am the only person who works them. I officially work 8-5 (we have to take an hour for lunch, and no we do not get paid for it). I am usually in by 7:45, and often enough nobody else is here until 9:30. I leave at 5, and I am rarely the first to leave. Now, I know that we have flexible schedules, because we work one night a week and people flex for teaching evening classes, but it totally makes me feel like I am the only person who is enough of a sucker to actually work the hours I am supposed to.
My hours are so all over the place it's ridiculous. I am so grateful for this job and my boss who also works insane hours. I don't know that I could ever go back to a set-hours schedule. Or one that I'd have to show up and work in the office for a set amount of hours. I am crazy lucky.
And it's very important to one of my reports that his schedule is 8-4:30 (he's back in school and also is involved in a lot of after-work sports) and I make sure he is out by that time every day (I often will pick up on one of his projects to complete it that night just so that he can leave). We're an excellent tag team.
