this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

That is a really cool tattoo! And I guess he doesn't need to worry about a future boss writing him off because of a neck tattoo at this point?

He's a badass. (A winky emoticon belongs here.)

Steph, I like your dad's tattoo, I don't think I said.

I like the tat itself a lot. I don't think that picture shows the gradual shading of the orange color, which is nicely done. But I remain dubious about the location. He loves it, though (fortunately), and that's really all that matters.

ita, do you know what's going on with the hand (the cause)? Because I'd really hate for you to get hit with another mystery ailment.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I hope your hand swells down and feels better soon, ita.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh ita, sorry about the hand stuff.

Whoa Steph, I'm totally impressed with your father's tat.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

The subject of tattoos came about because I shared a picture of my dad's new tattoo

must be something in the water with our parents getting tattoos. my mom just got her first one last thursday. she got the customary tramp stamp. my dad was thinking about getting one, but i think he's backed out now for whatever reason. oh and i like your dad's, but i feel you on the placement!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Frank, I think it's an infiltrated IV from Sunday morning that I didn't notice at the time. No idea why it's persisting this long--I've had a few before, but not this bad. I don't want to think there's anything deeper.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I recently decided that my only concern about tattoos and/or their placement is other people. So I wouldn't get a tattoo that precluded me from looking Very Conservative on demand, but if that is not a concern for other people, I say go for it! Shit, someone I know who works for the state department has several tattoos that would be visible in typical female work clothes, so maybe there are no rules anymore.

Have you tried compression, ita?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Ha! I'm having a debate on FB with my cousins and their mom. But check this out. Not a bit of it is from the right or even the center-right. We all basically agree, it's just the matter of degree we would be satisfied with.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I have tats on each of my ankles, so they are out when I wear a skirt. But no one seems to notice them. If I wear a shirt that is cut a bit lower in the back than most shirts - I tend to get a comment on the back tat (and then I tend not to wear that as a work shirt anymore).

If someone asks about my opinion on tattoos, I tend to say - don't get one on your 18th birthday - you are going to have it your whole life, take time to really think about what you are doing. And remind them about placement. Can you hide them, if necessary?
