Go Sue! Everyone I know who has taken blacksmithing classes ended up getting really into it. I met these people when they were demonstrating smithing, though, so there's some serious selection bias at work. But it's nifty, that much I'm sure of. Whacking hot metal with hammers! Awesome! You make most of the tools you use, that's just cool.
Glassblowing is also neat but even just watching people do glassblowing is hot and tiring.
I have been to the DMV and gotten thumbprinted for an affidavit and now I am taking a break.
The cake decorator was psyched to write it out. She was a Buffy fan.
So keep the burn ointments handy.
I plan to wrap myself in asbestos. Glass blowing would be really fun too.
I have an interview at 3. Am drinking strong coffee -- this is the earliest I've been up in two weeks, although I did try rally hard to get to sleep earlier. I managed it at about 5:45.
Hullo!
Up, bleary-eyed, did morning doodling, voted for Kat's Limeades project.
Sue, if you have Pilates near you, that's all about building up core strength.
Blacksmithing! So cool! (And useful.)
Glassblowing would be cool, too. Wanted to try it at UCLA but they rather stupidly kept the art majors out of the design dept. and vice versa.
Good luck on your interview, Erin!
After getting an e-mail from property management that maintenance had "changed the batteries" in my smoke alarms, I came home to check. Nope, hadn't changed them. Hadn't replaced the one that goes off as soon as you put a fresh battery in it. Nada.
I went to the office and complained about that, asked again about getting my garage door fixed, and fussed about my garbage not being picked up Thursday or Sunday night. Then I settled in at home to get back to work.
My favorite maintenance guy came by. He replaced the smoke alarm and fixed my garage door. Not much he can do about the garbage, but they darn well better pick up tonight.
Ok, now that I'm done venting - glassblowing would be very cool. I just don't trust my dexterity to give it a try. But I would love to.
Good luck Erin!
and my DH is going to be so jealous , Sue. he would love to take a blacksmithing class
