Punishingly Intricate

I went to a Bikram class once and it was horrible. Not because of the heat but because the teacher was useless. I'm super judgmental about it, though, for the reasons Kat mentioned, and can't be objective. For one thing, the idea of having to do the exact same poses every time in the same order seems incredibly boring to me.

I'd say hot yoga is any kind of yoga in a heated room. My studio has hot classes that are different varieties of yoga. Room may be a range of temperatures depending on the teacher, time of day, and number of students. I like it if it's not super hot.

I have not lost a ton of weight doing yoga. What a rip off!

After I adjusted to the Bikram heat, I'd feel fabulous after a class. And since I was an ashtanga woman, the repeating series of poses didn't bother me, but actually helped me get into the meditative state of mind.

I never lost a ton a weight either, but when I've got a regular yoga practice I notice that I don't hurt myself as much doing other things - my balance is better so I don't trip while walking, throw my back out, etc.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

What's gonna work? Teamwork!

We're not too big and we're not too tough, but when we work together, we've got the right stuff!

I bet the ashtanga style works for some people as a form of moving meditation, not having to process new instructions and just moving from pose to pose.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I decided to give it a shot. I know nothing about yoga so it'll be all new to me anyway. I think I'll wait for full on winter when I may really appreciate the heat.

Good for you, brenda! The day you start, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, and watch how you eat. The only goal at first is to stay in the room, not do every pose.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
