Timelies all!
Tomorrow we're daytripping a local webcomic convention(called Intervention).
Sunday is the Takoma Park Folk Festival. Hope the weather is nice...
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I have good Thai takeout, but not delivery, and I have perfectly good leftovers I can have for dinner. Duck curry is awfully tempting, but not leaving the house has definite attractions.
I have to go into the next town over to get Indian food, but it's within a two-mile radius. The place I like best was supposed to be opening up a quick takeout window with street food specialties, I should check on how that's coming along.
DH's dad wants a new car, a used Mustang convertible, but they only have $1,000 saved up and have decided their kids should buy the car for him. They already have two cars, but the junker he drives makes him feel "depressed," apparently.
The WTFness of that is boggling. Currently my monitor and my dishwasher are making me feel depressed, but I can't imagine informing my relatives they should replace them.
Amy, green curries are mild and delicious.
I think I'd be disappointed by a mild green curry. I expect my nose to run and for me to break out in a sweat when I eat it, especially when I make it at home.
I probably shouldn't have come to work today, considering that just chewing lunch wore me out.
Perkins, have a FANTASTIC trip. You too, Scola!
Yay for Allyson book launch.
... other than that, I've got nothin'. Oh, except that I finally get to meet Gail Carriger tonight. And that I've committed to two different Goth/Steampunk rummage sales this month. Time to cull the closets some more!
Maybe I'm thinking of yellow curries. Or maybe I'm evil and just want to hear Amy calling me up to yell at me for making her eyes water and her nose run. (Not really.)
I can neither confirm nor deny that they may also involve cooking Spanish tortillas
Aha!
I was so sad I finished the last one, I made a tiny little Spanish Tortilla using tater tots and it was so cute. And delicious.
This weekend: taking Emmett to Krav, taking Matilda to birthday party. Continuing to watch more early sixties horror for the article I'm writing. (This weekend: Black Sunday, The Innocents, The Haunting, and The Haunted Palace - one of the Corman/Price/Poe movies. Though in this instance it's actually a Lovecraft story disguised as a Poe.)
Oh, and it looks like there's another Mighty Boosh on the Tivo sched, plus I think Venture Bros. is firing up again.
3rd UPDATE: Suspicious items in schools turn out to be air quality monitors
The suspicious items that closed one school and put three others on a soft lock down today appear to be devices to monitor air quality in the schools.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency placed devices at all schools to test air quality after an oil leak Thursday, but didn't tell school officials, according to district spokesman Larry Randa.
...
The discovery of the devices came only after canceling school at Kenneth L. Hermansen Elementary School this morning, when a maintenance worker found one of the cylindrical items taped to a light pole in the school parking lot. The Cook County Sheriff’s bomb squad was called and parents were asked to take their children home.
Discovery of the devices also put three other elementary schools – Irene King, Beverly Skoff and A. Vito Martinez – on soft lockdown. Staff kept students in their assigned classrooms.
Now that the sun's up, the photos of the gas explosion in San Bruno are shocking. It's like the Blitz hit the block. [link]

Soulless author, yes? How cool!!
My day whizzed by. Don't envy me too much - next stop is vet.
I hope Frankie's OK, smonster.
OK, I made a spreadsheet and sent out a ground-laying email so that when I do call, it's less a cold call and more a follow up.
