I always figure planting under any circumstances with the understanding that it may not end in actual plants it's A-OK. Which is probably why I have bunches of empty pots available for whatever to go in and even more pots with plants in various stages of decrepitude but some surprisingly healthy and pretty specimens. Because sometimes it works.

How much of a clusterfuck does this sound:
I've been to and worked on a bunch of barcamps and other kinds of unconferences (they're incredibly common in the tech world, although they're still a little newer in other spheres), and done right they're brilliant and not at all clusterfucky. Done badly = "let's get a room and think we don't actually have to plan anything".
