Xander: I do have Spaghetti-os. Set 'em on top of the dryer and you're a fluff cycle away from lukewarm goodness. Riley: I, uh, had dryer-food for lunch.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hooray! I just got an email from my CSA farm, which is down toward the Cape, where the storm was supposed to be worst. The subject line? "ALL IS WELL." Phew!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Sorry to hear Tino...er...Earl has decided to come at you guys. It was pretty much a bust around here, except for inducing panic (stores that sell bottled water and batteries probably made a killing). I swear the regular rainstorm we got last week was much worse. Not that I'm complaining, but I rearranged my weekend plans. I suspect everyone who didn't head north early for the weekend is probably doing so today, so I'll put off going to Maine until tomorrow. Luckily I took Tuesday off so that should avoid labor day traffic coming and going.

I will say, this is the kind of thing that makes people not evacuate.

hip deep in pie

It's on us now. Not too bad so far, lots of wind and rain. The mall a block away has lost power, but I still have mine.

Because books.

"ALL IS WELL."

I can never not hear Kevin Bacon saying that at the end of Animal House.

We're off to the farmer's market soon! It's so awesome -- fruit and veg picked this morning out in Lancaster, mostly on Amish farms. I hear today is free hot dog day, as well, which Sara is jazzed about.

I'd be jazzed about free hot dog day too.

Sorry Early is mucking up your plans.

Today promises to be swelter fest. no. good.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just ate a bunch of chips for second breakfast. Why, Jesse, why??? I wasn't going to go to DSW today, but now I'd better, just for the walk.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gonna hit the library today. Other than that, no plans.

So, last night at like 9:00 PM, K went to suction Grace and the machine wasn't working. It wasn't holding any pressure at all. I took apart everything I could and reassembled. Then I checked the tubing. Played with the suction/tension dial. Nothing.

I then called our DME supplier and the on-call RT called immediately back. Got my info. Called the on-call driver. We had a new-to-us machine by 11:00 PM. It was all irritating but didn't feel full-blown panic! (It helps that we had gotten a donated Very Old suction machine that is stationary)

Keep Calm and Carry On indeed.

In other emergency news, one of the BD moms lives in Christchurch. Reading her news from yesterday reminds me that we do indeed need to put some formula for Grace into the Emergency Kit. Also, two weeks ago a woman who is a caretaker for her brother (who was on o2 and humidification like Grace) lost her husband, mother, and brother in a house fire that was the result of equipment going wonky.

Oh my.

Must go buy fire extinguishers too.

I'm feeling emergency-unpreparedness.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I'm reading an account of post-Katrina NOLA and feeling that, too. Take home message from The Big Uneasy? Don't trust the levees. Don't trust the new pumps. GTFO.
