Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Produce handled, black bean-corn salad chilling, peach-sugar plum crisp cooling.

Nice!

I know its more work, but it sure sounds like everybody's eating better with their CSAs.

I took Emmett and Matilda with me downtown. We spent a Groupon at Gap to get school clothes for Emmett. Then we wandered over to the Metreon (or what's left of it - it used to have so much cool stuff!) where we ran around the playground at Yerba Buena Center (it has a spectacular fun, fast slide), played video games, took a lunch break, then more video games (as well as the Hurricane Simulator where we all crowded into a booth and were buffeted by high winds for two dollars) then back home. Matilda conked out on the way.

Now a brief respite before megan walker gets here and we go to the neighborhood Game Night.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

While I remain somewhat suspicious of beets, I have discovered that roasted golden beets with a brush of olive oil and garlic, and topped with shredded gruyère, is a most excellent snack.

Ohh, I shall have to try that. They are good with garlic and lemon, too.

1. HOW CAN YOU EVEN SAY THAT OH MY GOD

because it's true!

2. Check the names in the comments.

I have learned never read the comments. Though if there is a place to make an exception, I bet Zooborns is it.

I just got back from a day on the other side of the bay, including an excellent lunch with Beth B and Matt. I have also been waxed and gone to Target.

Also, I think I may be getting a sinus infection.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've got the soundtrack for M-Squad. Pretty cool show starring the young Lee Marvin.

Yeah, the music is awesome. Count Basie! We like the jazz fights.

Plus scenes from old Chicago. This episode we saw Margie's Candies, a cool shop on MIlwaukee Ave. that's been there since the 1920s.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I know its more work, but it sure sounds like everybody's eating better with their CSAs.

God knows I am.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I know its more work, but it sure sounds like everybody's eating better with their CSAs.

We definitely are. I just wish it was translating to weight loss.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This salad is a pretty typical summer thing for me anyway, but usually it involves more cans.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

because it's true!

IT'S LIKE I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU ANYMORE

I have a red stuffed puggle! I didn't know puggles were real creatures. How cool! Well, now he needs a name; I can't just call him "Puggle" anymore.

OH HAI THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS. The report I have is that the name was given to baby echidnas in 1988 by volunteers at the echidna research station on Kangaroo Island. It was derived from 'pug', meaning little imp or hobgoblin.

I still think I might be too particular to do a CSA unless it is one where I can pick out what I want at the market, and even then... I spend about $25/week at the market and lately at least $10 of that is baked goods (empanadas and I'm trying out a new bread, but sometimes it is eggs or some random beverage or something from a food stand.)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That's what I like about my CSA--I get to choose from a list of what is available.
