Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

2:35pm Already crazy hot upstairs. Gonna turn off the MBP to give the CPU a cooling and go outside in the pool to give me a cooling.

hip deep in pie

I am trying to refrain from screaming SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP at a cat. crazy, let me show you how.

After Oz just caught (and ate) a housefly in less than a minute of hunting, I walked into the dining room where Clio was asleep and told her she was fired as bug catcher.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am having my car detailed. Pricy, but it has been that long and it is pretty filthy. The worst part is the wait.

Why do people bring their pets into food service establishments? You've got to know dogs aren't allowed in here and their health board rating could get dinged for it. I'm trying to imagine the coffee emergency that important. The barista did take her order, but made her wait outside for it. I hope she got tipped for the extra effort.

What ita said (the part about dogs in restaurants, not the part about car detailing).

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Late-to-the-game ~ma to Seska for her house, Suzi for her cousin, and ND and Pix.

I am 2/3 of the way through student move-in, and I'm sunburned and stinky, but it was a successful day, all-around. Tomorrow should be much lighter. In a half-hour, I'm going to see Inception, so yay.

Ah, my car looks so much better. The big shell-out was to get the interior shampooed. And it's better off for it.

I even almost got my brows done. But that would be a little much accomplishment for the day. Plus the ladies in the salon lied about how long my wait would be. I think they were yelling at me as I left, but @@. Suddenly discovering you have someone to do my brows after 15 minutes of a five minute wait is a bit annoying.

And, as always, after I've driven off from the carwash I become convinced I didn't tip enough.

I woke up late, with a headache, decided since my dinner last night consisted of snacking on someone else's fries, I needed a real breakfast, so I drove up to a place in another neighborhood and had a huge breakfast, then up to Home Depot for all the various lightbulbs the house needs, and some gardening stuff. Just got home, and while desperately trying to crack open the package of bulbs, managed to pop it open so one of the huge, $4, mercury filled bulbs dropped on the floor and shattered glass (and mercury?) all over. ARGH!

But I have replaced all the downstairs bulbs. Can't reach one in the hall without a ladder. Still need to do the bathroom, but have put stuff in the wash, taking an internet break. :)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

how long, ita, did it take to detail your car?

brillig

Hubby said the nicest thing to me today. We were discussing female voices, and I commented that sometimes people on the phone at work still think I'm a man. "I know I have a low voice for a woman, but still." Him: "Well, your voice is lower than mine, at least from when I've heard mine recorded. It's almost like Marlene Dietrich's." Me: "Oh, I can live with that!" "And it's not just that, you've got the self-confidence. A lot like Marlene's." "That's one of the nicest things I've ever heard!"

If he's right, I'm very pleased.
