I still love Ellen. Part of the reason she's so unlikeable in S1 is that she's still closed off and neurotic from The Event Seven Years Ago. She's seriously damaged, but since she's the one who stayed, she had to present as if she was still whole and still able to be the prima donna (I mean this in the original, opera sense). She's amazing at what she does, and there is a reason Geoffrey and a lot of other people around her love her. In the rehearsal confrontation in S1, she is the only one to stand up to the director and say, "Look, we don't know where you're leading us, and you haven't given any reason to trust you, and we feel like we're going to fall off a cliff any minute now." I don't like how she does it, but she does it.
Juliana is me. She was written very broadly in S1 compared to the latter seasons, but I adored her from the start.

Shit's all sorts of different now.
I did like Ellen more in S2, but she was reminiscent of my former best friend who acted a lot like Ellen did, without any of the humanity Ellen had. There were some amazing, vulnerable, broken moments that she had, but she just had some mannerisms that reminded me so harshly of Sara that it gave me a good wiggins and it was hard for me to like her.
And why don't I get the freaking lottery?? I'm not a good person!! I'm a horrible person with an ill-fitting bra!

Also, my mother didn't allow us to read in the car. She said we'd ruin our eyes. Not that our eyes had much chance anyway given that both of my parents were nearsighted. Maybe she was really worried that we'd get car sick.
