I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Timelies!

Today was the Huntington Garden tour. One of our tour group is disabled and needs to sometimes use a wheelchair. Since it's "sometimes" he doesn't have an electric wheelchair. The volunteer taking us on the tour proceeded to ignore him and started going over grass and off paths. 20 years since the ADA was passed and still a volunteer working for the Huntington Gardens hasn't gotten any training on those issues? As a result, the disabled person & his family & friends were left behind and got a fraction of the tour everyone else in our group got. Grrr.

I was also stunned to see (a) very old-fashioned wasteful sprinkler systems in use and (b) watering going on at noon in the hot SoCal sun. Clearly water consciousness is not big with the Huntington Gardens.

OTOH, they seem to be embracing the edible gardening movement, even using a few permaculture principles (though they didn't use the "P" word). I was a little disappointed that part of the garden will not be open to the general public but only to classes, but it *is* progress for them to even have it.

Did the most walking today that I've done since I moved. I'm glad my knee didn't go out on me again. I should try to nap, though.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Too hot to clean many of the things.

Our AC was overheating and making some funny noises. It's off for a while, till the sun goes downish, and holy shit, it is so hot upstairs (where my office, and therefore I, is/am.) It's got to be 90. I am wearing teeny tiny shorts and tank, and it is still too much.

Tomorrow I'm planning to sleep forever, clean some stuff, read some Arthur Conan Doyle and/or Dorothy Sayers, and not go outside because it will be HOT. Sunday I've got brunch plans, and I hope to finally see Inception.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wasn't that the one where she's a stripper and gets him to write a nast. letter to his girlfriend he thinks is cheating on him and they have to chase down the truck it's on?

No, it's not out yet. She's a softball player.

Man, for all that hunger? Didn't finish the burger.

That middle one almost made me like Channing Tatum.

It is so cold here. Summer has so far skipped us by. I can only assume it will get very wicked sometime later.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Have we all seen Paul Rudd as a bat mitzvah DJ?

Those dresses and that hair is just so entirely eighties. Awesome.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have got to go to the library and the grocery store. GOT TO.

then I'm going to work on putting together my Best-of-SYTYCD-2010 dvd, which will go a long way to cleaning off my dvr.

Oooh. Now that I have my HDTivo, I can't burn DVDs anymore (my old one was the dvd-burning kind), and while I CAN put episodes onto my computer, it's a netbook, so doesn't have a DVD burner. Problem--it's getting full! I suppose I should just decide which bits i liked and youtube them.

Stephen just brought me an actual sugar plum!

Y'know, I saw these earlier today at trader joes and it didn't occur to me until just now when I read this that they were like "sugarplum fairies" sugar plums. Huh... I may have to go back and buy one.

I was very tempted by #17 (a military style jacket) in Jilli's sale too, smonster. And #3, a bustier. But I decided I really really didn't need it.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

skipped a lot. we are having a very bad day. things started at 11 ish with mac running away from grandma. He crossed a 4 lane very busy road. We find out hours later that he stole something from the store he ran to. he is up and down with us for hours - 6 hours to be exact and finally I had had enough and pushed him over the edge of breaking down so it would just end. big cry, all done. of course grandma won't eat now, but insists she is fine. We are all spending the night over there. We are upping his meds RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Sorry your day was so bad, msbelle.

Because books.

I'm sorry, msbelle. Maybe when school starts the routine will help, though.
