"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Orange used to be my favorite color. I now own nothing orange except an awesome sweater my mother-in-law gave me. And yet? Orange was one of the most tempting colors in the nubar sale. Would I ever really wear orange nail polish? I don't know. Was I willing to spend $8.95 to find out? No. Sadly. 'Cause it was a really pretty color.

But my nails are gunmetal today, so it's all okay.

I keep meaning to make cinnamon rolls, but it has yet to happen. Instead I'm baking french bread.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Because books.

My toenails are orange right now, sort of a dreamsicle orange with a little sheen. Very pretty. I can do an orange shirt, maybe, but pants? No.

I keep meaning to make cinnamon rolls, but it has yet to happen. Instead I'm baking french bread.

I had cinnamon toast for breakfast, which didn't suck, but warm, fresh french bread sounds better.

Oh, right, said it over there, but the house and its carrots are marvelous! I love house loves carrots posts, and yours is really coming along. You'll feel much better after you get your bedroom in shape.

When we did our long move, the SO, bless him, had the whole bedroom--furniture, linens, everything--set up by the time I arrived with the big truck. All I had to do was fall into bed. The rest of it we put together over time, but it was huge to have that awesome space ready for me.

I am still enamored with our house. When we had friends over this past weekend, staying in the guest room, drinking coffee in the kitchen, playing with the instruments in the studio, barbecuing and playing cards and drinking wine and playing instruments on the deck, it was all just so wonderful. It felt great to be really using the house like it was intended.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wish I had a cinnamon roll. The best part of the peach cake I made last weekend was the ton of butter and sugar and cinnamon I poured over top. Mmmm.

A guy talked to me at the elevator. Hmmm. I wonder who he is?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The quiet developer just expressed exasperation with me. What's the pouty frowny emoticon?
