I soaked through my shirt working on the banister tonight. But progress! [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] I have to use the camera to see the places that still need work. I literally can't get my head up there, so will have to work blind.
I may need another shower.
beth, can I just say, it is so nice to have Matt cheering me on and offering advice (which has been invaluable)? It's extra sooper nice to get pats on the head from someone who know how this goes as I make wee steps...
of course you can say that. I always like praise for Matt. and he is helpful. and interested in all the details

Get a Super-Soaker and fill it with paint stripper?
Matt's AWESOME. Walking through the Arts and Crafts exhibit with him in SF was fascinating, because he knew so much about the wood in all the furniture, and the craftsmanship. I learned so much that day.

Hah! Actually, the stripper I use is thicker than paint, almost gel-like. And I can get it up there, just can't get much leverage to get it out. To scrape the back of the spindles, I fit hands on either side of the spindle (vertically, not wide enough to turn my wrists,) hold the scraper with two hands almost parallel to the spindle and push up. I predict wrist pain tomorrow. And fingers.
Matt suggested rope, which is on the list for the weekend. I'm already using a damp rag for the banister, but I can't get it down there.
Now know why that section of banister had just the original varnish, no paint. It was probably varnished before it was installed.
As I was just now sitting in mac's room waiting for him to fall asleep, I was falling asleep and I kinda woke up with 2 names in my head: Sinclair Beauregard and Walter Montgomery, both with my last name. Maybe they're the names for our future dogs. no clue, just weird.
And now for me, bed. Since the cats keep waking me up between 4:30 and 5 and I am going to try to get to sleep now and just get up for good at that hour, see how that works.
Aww, I would love a Bancomat! It's like an Automat, only they push money through the little slots at you!
Bancomat is far superior to the automat and certainly better than a laundromat.
Skipping like a crazy person to ask Kat a question. I think you posted a link a couple of Halloweens ago to a site that sold awesome, reasonably priced baby/toddler costumes. If it was you, do you remember the link?
