Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

What is even happening?

Kat, I don't know how you could anticipate everything. With three kids, 1 of whom was totally "healthy" and two of whom were basically easy, health-wise (forgetting their RSV and the resulting problems), it's always a crap-shoot. Your nurse is someone who has trained with children who have Grace's challenges. Of course he's going to spot/know about shit you might not see, immediately. You're "just" a mom, but you've been doing a hero's job since your babies were born, and you're doing it so well. Thanks the universe for the help and try to let it go -- that's my advice, worth the paper upon which it's written (none).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

There are actually 47 now, in a town of about 12,000. And you can find their offenses; one is listed as over 18 having sex with someone under 15, and one is listed as attempted sexual abuse of a physically helpless person unable of giving consent.

Well, it's not like I'm endorsing them. And it does help to see exactly what the offense was for. In short: that's a lot for your town; I'm glad you're moving.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Yeah, he's great, really. I hope we don't lose him. He teaches Grace signs. He takes her out. He talks and plays with her. Noah likes him (which is good, there aren't a lot of men in Noah's world) and he's good with Noah too.

We are blessed to have him in our life and I hope he is here long enough to help us get Grace to the point where we don't need him.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Did Erin ever show up here today?

ACK. Sorry, msbelle. Battery died on the phone last night, and I have been crazy working person on this last day of this freelance project until...now. Although I still have stuff to do on it.

Maybe right now isn't the best time for me to be a buddy, since I run out of meds and am on a late morning/late night streak.

I can still do late evening checks for your bedtime, though!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Curse you, wee Kat! Now the rest of my life will be diminished knowing I don't own this.

In less completely trivial news, I'm sorry about the twinge the new nurse gave you but so very glad for his awesomeness and attentiveness. Grace deserves no less than purely awesome (and so do all your family).

Now tagless for your comfort.

I doubled checked the charges--looks like the degree of sexual assault is for kids over 13 but under 16. Still icky and awful. Both the offenders were in their late teens or early 20s.

I'm trying not to be freaked out entirely. It's better to be informed, not paranoid.

Yeah. The twinge is clearly my issue. Not his nor Grace's. It's just sort of like, "aw."

His previous patient was a kid similar to Grace but with a rare condition that usually has a mortality age of 16 or so. I only get snippets about the kid but he is deaf, trached, g-tubed and lived with his (32-year-old) grandparents who immediately began drinking alcohol upon arrival home.

I know our family has its own quirks, but yoiks.

JZ, that dress is amazing. I don't have $200 nor do I have a 36 bust and certainly not a 28 inch waist. Not even when I was a size 4 did I have those measurements.

Cash, I'd be freaked out entirely. But I'm like that.

Our wings are not tired.

It's easy to get freaked out and grossed out...just never forget that most abuse is by people your kid already knows, not a stranger down the street.
