What you did to me was unbelievable, Connor. But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M.C. Escher perspective, but I did get time to think.

They are both so worried about putting stuff out there in the open.

I've never had therapy but I have to have a psych eval before scheduling my surgery. I worry that I might do the "start telling myriads of stories to avoid talking about important things" thing. I love to talk about myself, just not necessarily about what really matters.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Would it help if they had some sessions without you there, msbelle?

Because books.

Would it help if they had some sessions without you there, msbelle?

I was going to say, if the focus is mac, and ways for the family as a whole to deal with him, maybe she's worried about hurting you.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Mom is defensive and holding back. Dad wants to just tell stories about he doesn't get bothered by anything and really he has no issues. They are both so worried about putting stuff out there in the open.

Yeah, it's a process- it's unfortunate because you are so far ahead of them with the therapeutic self-awareness, I can understand how frustrating it is.

They will get there, I am sure- it sounds like they WANT to, it will just take some time. In the meantime, though, I share your UGH.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Since I am so far behind in Bitches due to being away this weekend, I will send belated CONGRATS TO NORA!!!!

That's WICKED awesome news!

Kermit waves at Nora

So I'm currently without my car. I was parked off to the side of the driveway at my brothers, and he and his wife were going to breakfast and backed up to turn his truck around so he can go out head first, like he usually does. And forgot I was there. Ooops.

The car is driveable, but I left it in Maine (a friend of mine from home who also lives in MA happened to be up there for the weekend as well) because the reputation of a guy there who does body work is superlative, and I haven't a clue who I'd have gone to down here for that. My brother got the estimate and he'll take care of getting it all squared away.

Unfortunately, they can't fit the work in until the week of the 30th, so I'm not sure what to do: go carless until Labor Day, or go up sometime in the next week or so, drive back to MA and then drive up again the weekend before the 30th. I don't absolultely need to car that I can forsee, but I wouldn't mind having it back. However, if I do that I'll need to go up three times at this point, wheras if I wait it out I'll just need to go up once. Hmm.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Last night, I mixed up a big salad for today's lunch, with three different CSA ingredients that I needed to use up, which made me feel all efficient and planny and not-wasteful and all sorts of other good things.

Sadly, all the \\o/ in the world aren't going to change the fact that it's still a salad.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I had CSA-licious salad and soup for lunch, and had to ("had to") supplement with chips AND candy. Oops.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

yeah this therapy is really about how dealing with mac makes US feel and how we deal with EACH OTHER. they are uni-focused on what can we do when he does X, how do we make X stop, will he ever be better?

Love this letter written August 7, 1865, from a former slave to his former master re: the former master's invitation for the man to return back to the plantation with his family. As the blogger says, "one of the all-time great examples of the cheerful and elaborately polite 'screw you.'"

As to my freedom, which you say I can have, there is nothing to be gained on that score, as I got my free papers in 1864 from the Provost Marshall-General of the Department of Nashville. Mandy says she would be afraid to go back without some proof that you were disposed to treat us justly and kindly; and we have concluded to test your sincerity by asking you to send us our wages for the time we served you. This will make us forget and forgive old scores, and rely on your justice and friendship in the future. I served you faithfully for 32 years, and Mandy 20 years. At 25 dollars a month for me, and 2 dollars a week for Mandy, our earnings would amount to $11,608. Add to this the interest for the time our wages have been kept back, and deduct what you paid for our clothing, and three doctor's visits to me, and pulling a tooth for Mandy, and the balance will show what we are in justice entitled to.

Please send the money by Adam's Express, in care of V. Winters Esq., Dayton, Ohio. If you fail to pay us for faithful labors in the past, we can have little faith in your promises in the future...

In answering this letter, please state if there would be any safety for my Milly and Jane, who are now grown up, and both good looking girls. You know how it was with poor Matilda and Catherine. I would rather stay here and starve and die, if it comes to that, than have my girls brought to shame by the violence and wickedness of their young masters. You will also please state if there has been any schools opened for the colored children in your neighborhood. The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education, and have them form virtuous habits. Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.
