What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I know I skim, but I thought that that was a bit much.

So, Groupon had a cheap membership for the Skirball. We've taken Noah to the Noah's Ark exhibit a couple of times (when he was 7 months and when he was 21 months). This was the first time we took Grace. Twins at the Skirball. I think she had a good time.

We'll go back soon because she actually sat in the dirt at the archealogical site where kids can play and Noah got to dig in the dirt (always a fave activity). Good thing we have a membership now.

Sorry; I would have pointed conversation back to Bitches if I had been here.

I have gotten nothing cleaned, but I did make black bean, roasted corn and avocado quinoa salad (which I'll probably grind up a big chunk for Grace tomorrow) and right now I have a dill and cheddar beer bread in the oven. It's been pretty cool last night and this evening; to take advantage of the mild weather, I'm baking.

Hey meara, totally random question, but do you still go to mass?

meara - Aug 08, 2010 7:26:47 pm PDT #16885 of 30001

Heck no! I was a Eucharistic minister through high school, and a confirmation counselor. And then went to college, and still went to mass quite a bit freshman year. And then occasionally, sophomore year...but more and more it would hit 10 or 11pm and I would go "Hmm, I could go to the last mass....or...sit here with friends and watch X Files?"

And then after that only went on occasion when friends wanted me to (...seeing as how I went to Catholic school, and there was a chapel in the middle of campus and mass about 18 times every Sunday, that wasn't as rare as it might seem).

And summers, I think I still went every Sunday with my dad, until I moved out after college. And until I started staying with my sister for Christmas, still had to go at Christmas (and New Year's Day, since that's a Holy Day of Obligation!)

Now, I don't remember the last time I went...(I think probably someone's wedding mass)

That said, I do still find the ritual and the songs and so on very soothing, and the few times I've been to services for other less traditional religions (UUs, or the gay church in DC...I forget their denomination), I found it just weird. But then, since I tend to be going to wedding masses, I hit up against shit that makes me upset enough to cry for other reasons, and I suddenly don't want to be there. Sigh.

I do still have a number of friends from college who are very involved--even though they're gay, or super liberal/gay friendly. I can't do that. I admire JZ, and her parish, and I've known some kick-ass priests, and...I just can't do it.

I've contemplated Episcopalianism, and I expect that if I ever have kids, I might end up being one of THOSE people, who go back to church for the kids. ;)

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Morning. Frankie nearly got attacked by a Rottie last night, and has been off since. I'm thinking he may have wrenched his back. I'm inclined to take him to the vet this morning, am I being paranoid? Nothing seems to hurt when I touch him, but he was walking very slowly and stiffly this morning, and just his tail wagged instead of his whole rear end.

eta I'm taking him in. If I don't I'll worry all day.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

{{{Frankie}}} You're probably right that it's just sore muscles, but best to be sure.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, poor Frankie.

Happy birthday, Aims!!
