We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

We have a monsoon here! And my boss's boss just left for his three-hour-long weekly drive home to Wisconsin--hope he doesn't have any problems on the road.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The arguments that the right makes regarding marriage are just so... ugh.

I love that there is a petition in the works to put on the ballot the 2012 California Marriage Protection Act. I heard Marcotte on NPR where he made the point that people who really are into the protection of marriage need to look at eradicating all arenas where marriage is under attack, which is, primarily, divorce.

More here: [link] and here: [link]

Anyhow, I love that one of his ideas that if marriage is so important to abridge people's civil liberties than it should be all people, not just gay people.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I am so giddy happy. Yes, I know there will be appeals and all that, but for the moment logic prevails!!!!

I'm not sure there will be. According to the article, it's a state law, so the Supremes won't get involved. I think this was the highest judicial level.

They might try another Proposition that fits in with this ruling (though I dont see how) or push for a Constitutional amendment (does that need a two thirds majority?), but I don't know if they have any other options.

I want to be happy about Prop 8, but it's going to get so ugly here in Utah.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hey, Kat! So I was thinking about it and I wondered...what would you think of me driving up and bringing your niece to college? I have some fundraising stuff in Ohio I didn`t get to do this summer, and I live in AZ so after I dropped her off I`d be nearly home. That way your mom wouldn`t have to come this way and you wouldn`t have to pull the cross country with the twins. I dunno if your niece would flip out at a cross country with an internet stranger, but I just wanted to make the offer.

Nope. It's a state law but this case was in Federal District court since the plaintiffs were challenging the law as violating the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution.

It will eventually end up with the Supremes. Though they could always choose not to hear it.
