Oof. I am definitely getting a GPS when I get a car.

I just took a Zipcar to bring a bunch of stuff to electronics recycling. I had directions there and back printed out from Google Maps. Getting there, I took two wrong turns, but corrected them easily. (This is what's nice about grid streets that are numbered and lettered in order -- you can always look at a street sign and know where you are.) Getting back, though, the street that Google Maps wanted me to take didn't seem to exist, and it was too far outside the grid system for me to be able to use that to navigate. So I drove around for while -- ended up taking Michigan Ave. through Catholic University at least three times -- before I finally found Rhode Island Ave., which I knew would take me almost home. Went the wrong direction on Rhode Island the first time, but realized that by watching the building numbers, and turned around.

I had planned to stop at Soul Vegetarian for lunch, since it's sort of in the neighborhood, and I want to go there once more before leaving DC, but I wasn't quite sure enough of where I was to try to find it, so I just came home.

God I love my fizzinator. And messing with the fizziness from bottle to bottle.

Veteran fizzers? How can you tell when the cylinder is getting low? I have the one that is 100 liter capacity, and have been doing roughly 2 bottles per day for the last month. It shouldn't be running out just yet, I don't think...but I'm getting a bit of a stutter.

Also, does anyone else have a loooong first pump before you get the burpy sound, or am I doing something wrong? It's like the pressure has to build up in the bottle before the actual fizzination occurs. And I get some leakage too...no matter how tight I screw the bottle on.

Hil, while seemingly centrally located, that recycling center is surprisingly in the middle of no and where. I've gotten lost there several times.

I love my GPS, except that the suction cup has suddenly decided it doesn't want to stick to my windshield anymore. Am debating taking a trip to Radio Shack to see if they have one of those beanbag mounts. On the one hand, oy not another fucking errand. OTOH, I'd really rather not spend the next 2 days watching it fall down every 5 minutes.

Anyone have opinions on whether the built-in GPS or the kind that you stick to the windshield is better?

I just signed up for Zipcar last week. They only have 2 general locations here in LA (USC and UCLA), neither of which are near me. However, renting a car is so expensive I'd rather have the money be an investment in a future than just one rental. I'm antsy because I need the car for a specific set of dates and I can't even see if it's already reserved until I get that damned card. They're slow sending it.

Today will involve moving boxes that are already in my room to another room in order to make room for a bookcase to be brought up from the garage. That is, after demi-tonnes of clutter are removed from in front of the bookcase.
