France smokes less than other EU countries?? Really? OK, well, I guess some of that didn't surprise me (the former Soviet Republics types) but Spain? JAPAN?? Huh.

They even ban smoking in public places these days. Although whether bars and restaurants should be part of that is still disputed, the ban itself has 70% popular support.
