Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't care much about hockey, but this Canada-U.S. game is pretty exciting.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

On a very separate note, if I wanted to decide to buy a house, anyone got a suggestion about how I would start applying for mortgages? Er.

I'd talk to erin_obscura.

I went through my emails with the broker, and I think everything I mentioned was it. This is what the broker listed. I think we might have added 401K statement:

'07 & '08 w-2's, one month's pay stubs (2 or 4 depending how often you get paid), asset statements (checking, savings, etc).

...recs from bank? Like, the one I do checking with? Wouldn't they just say "With us! With us!"

Don't know any recent homeowners in my area. Don't have a realtor yet, but plan to get one, I suppose. Maybe. If I"m actually doing this. Er. Eep?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The ice dancing commentators seem to be making a point of explaining why this Indian routine isn't offensive.

You are... Seattle? Plei?

Your bank. Or any bank. Of course, they will say "go with us." You don't have to. You can do this with multiple places. Basically, you want a good faith estimate from them after they run your numbers, to give you an idea of what it might cost you. Note: you are NOT committing to the mortgage! That comes later. First, I got pre-qualified/approved. That requires less paperwork. Then, I went in with a monthly I'd be willing to do, and how much I'd be willing to put down, and they ran the #s. And we played with them a bit. And then I found a house and we worked that. And that's when the crazy official documentation begins.

Probably varies state to state on what docs are needed, but the early stage are just about figuring out your range. So unless you have a specific property in mind (in which case, you jump to the docs) it's really a math exercise.

And ??!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I remember watching Kidnapped when it aired. I had forgotten about Eugene Tooms and the Amazing Maleeni.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If they're calling it Indian, Hil, that's fail right there. Even if it is Aboriginal Canadian, you really don't wanna go that road.

Okay, bacon, toffee, and chocolate? NOMNOMMYNOMNOM.
