wow, that is green! mac would like something similar, he said he like 2 walls bright yello and the other two bright red. I talked him down to one wall bright yellow, the other three paler yellow and new bedding in red.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I may rival sara in new house talk, fair warning.

Built.in.bookshelves. IJS.

I haven't prattled much lately because we haven't made a lot of progress till now. But once the shelves are up and the breakfront's assembled, we really will FINALLY be unpacked. We like the wall color, so no painting, except the doors and trim in the hall (walnut to white) to brighten the dark space.

We got the last posters (that we've had stored in their portfolio for *decades* because there was nowhere to hang them) framed and hung and they look fabulous. We're living with the things we've hung and the furniture placement until we see how it all looks and works and how it might be better. There will be more pictures once it's done.

...and then we may tackle the kitchen. Floor and cabinets. I'd like to strip the room back to the studs and start over, but I don't think we can afford it. The appliances are all fine--LOVE the cooktop and wall oven, though I want to paint black enamel over the harvest gold oven door--except the dishwasher and disposal, which we don't use anyway. The dishwasher will go, and a useful stack of drawers will go in its place. I hope we can save the cabinet carcasses and counters and just replace the fronts, with new doors and hardware. And a quick and dirty peel and press vinyl tile floor is more than adequate.

So, no worries about new house burbling. It's sort of inevitable.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am at Denny's in Oak Park. Denny's apparently believes Bitches is not a suitable thread for a family restaurant, as it's blocked. Other threads seem OK.

I just measured, I will lose 55 sq ft from my bedroom, but when I saw the new measurements (13x11) laid out, it will be totally fine. There are 2 closets in there that you can't see in the pictures.

Our wings are not tired.

I love all the house talk, especially the details about fixing stuff up.

java - sadly Texas never really felt like home even when I lived there growing up. My parents being there makes it feel somewhat homey, and this particular house feels like me, so there is that.

That makes sense; after all, you moved to New York and (I think) love it. I wonder when Mac's all grown up, you'll find yourself back in NYC. But of course that's years from now and in the meantime you have an adorable house to fix up and enjoy! Mac's uncle sure will miss him.

I have scheduled a hair appointment for tomorrow. Now I probably should decide what I want my stylist to do.

I kind of love this cut, but I somehow doubt that I could get my hair to look like that without a significant time investment in the morning.
