Natter 65: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Skipping (goodness, this is the first time today I saw a computer, and in ten minutes it'll already be tomorrow!) because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is -t's birthday.
Happy birthday, -t! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
(And sorry I almost ran out of today, on my timezone, before posting it!)
My god, I have no idea why they almost overcharged me. But when I told them to go back and look, they charged me the same amount as before. Dude. Doesn't the drug have a price?
But hey, have painkillers, back home, back online at work.
I hate when pharmacies pull that shit, usually when you're in no condition to argue with them or reason out a solution.
Matilda played with them dumped them on the couch and we had to do a deep couch excavation to put them all back in the bag.
Oh, silly Matilda.
Oh, and hey Buffistas, I think I need talking off of a ledge. I've started posting reviews to Gothic Charm School; for additional content, and because a lot of readers have asked for my opinions or reviews for stuff over the years.
But. Someone on Twitter thinks I've turned into a shill by doing reviews:
You seem to have misunderstood my tweet. I don't want to see reviews. I want to read your opinions. And no, your review of Noxenlux Chapeau is not an opinion, it's a REVIEW. I regret recommending your book and blog to a friend now...I feel like you're trying to sell things to your readers. I don't want to feel like I've just walked into an airport.
Is this a version of
"Yeah, I liked them before they sold out"
? Should I not spend time fretting over it? Because right now, it's bugging me.
Jilli, do not pay attention to stupid people.
I am reading the NYT's review of Percy Jackson and Something Having to do with Olympians (the gods, not the athletes). This caught my eye:
His compatriots are Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario), the saucer-eyed daughter of Athena
Uh, really? Athena? Does she spring out of Athena's head fully formed?
A review is not an opinion?
My impression is that it isn't the pharmacies per se that are pulling that shit, it's the insurance companies. I've noticed with my MiL's insurance that the amount you pay for drugs varies greatly, including big variations in what you pay for drugs "not covered" by the plan.
As I almost never see them on the actual site, are you posting them in the same space as the advice column?
I was standing around at CVS over an hour, all told. A bunch of that wait was over medication I'd called in this morning (oh, at 4am) that was supposed to be ready at 10. And when I finally gave up on waiting for all of that was when they pulled the price shit. When I explained how much less I'd paid before (even as I was contemplating the ginormous price to myself), apparently she'd gone back to try and run it through insurance again.
Thanks for not listening, lady. Last time I PAID FOR IT MYSELF it was much cheaper. Therein lies the point. I know it's not covered again so soon. My life does suck.
But at least with the extra wait they had time to fill the rest of the drugs---not that I cared since I have to come back in and get the injectable Imitrex after tomorrow anyway.
Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't have any breakdowns today. Not when the PA told me my appointment wouldn't happen, not during actual happening appointment or frustrating blood draw attempts or at CVS. Because I did alternately want to weep and cut a bitch.
Not enough juice.
But you're right--medical stuff shouldn't be done when you're not well.
