I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm trying to decide whether to go outside and take some pictures or stay inside and keep warm.

Because books.

What do I want to do today? I need to do something to get me out of the house, but it's now raining, and I don't want to spend money.

Any museums around you haven't seen? An aquarium maybe? Or a movie? That's not too much money to spend, if you hit a matinee.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We have light snow flurries here. Enough to look charming, not enough to stick.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

All good ideas. I should investigate them.

I just walked down to the Mall and got a bunch of pictures. I'll post them once I've warmed up a bit. (I tried making hot chocolate, but all I had for the base was powdered soy milk, and it's really not working. Tastes all chalky.)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hil, have you tried the Coconut Milk from So Delicious? It's good enough to fool my cats, which is pretty impressive. I get mine at Stop & Shop (which surprises me) where it's cheaper than Whole Foods.

Edited to add: I know you're snowed in at present, so this is really a suggestion for future reference....

Yeah, I love that stuff, and it makes great hot chocolate, but I don't have any on hand now. I just realized that I've got half a carton of Trader Joe's Whole Grain Drink in the back of the fridge, but now I'm feeling too lazy to start over with the hot chocolate.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We've got about 3 inches of snow here in Brooklyn, which is about enough for the kids to stomp around in but not so much that our boots fill with snow before we've walked to the end of the block. We may try for a snowman this afternoon if it's not too cold.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I more or less did my taxes online, but I apparently owe a bunch, and have also been drinking rum (medicinally! At my mother's suggestion!) so I saved it to review later. The owing makes sense, because of the consultant pay, but I'm not sure I did the two states right. Remind me to move on New Year's Eve next time.
