Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

people with kids in school, are schools closed for MLK and President's Day? NYC schools are. The new district in TX? no.

Because books.

We get both up here, but I think schools might have been open MLK Day in PA.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I pay half an eye to local schools even though I don't have kids. (It's a long story. Basically, a lot of people go ballistic whenever the government closes for a snow day, regardless of how bad it is out there. So I have this half-baked idea of tying the government's closure to the closing of local schools.)

Schools will be open Presidents' Day this year where I live. But as a make-up snow day and not because the school board wants to ignore the holiday.

(By the way, DCistas, have you heard? Winter storm warning: 16 to 24 inches starting mid-morning tomorrow, near-blizzard conditions Friday night. )

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

People, where are you? I need my Internets.

My boss wrote this complex SQL statement which he did not test or debug. So that's what I'm doing.

Then he did not write a complex SQL statement. He wrote a long string of characters. You are making it into a SQL statement.

I need to work out why servers I've been told are synchronised are giving me query counts that differ by up to 2000 records.

I need to take another pass at the functional requirements document.

I need to review the test plan.

Luckily the build review meeting got delayed until this afternoon.

Still, I need my Internets.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I keep finding myself looking at housing swap listings on craigslist, so I guess that's what I'm doing for vacation this year. And since I now have ten years at my job, I get an extra week of time.

We're crazy stupid busy at work the first half of this year, so it probably won't be until late summer or fall.

Well, it runs and does stuff, so I say it's a SQL statement. It just does the wrong stuff.
