What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

You're in the 20th century, is what you are. What happens if there's a disaster and you can't get into the office? What then?

Remote Desktop Connection!

I now have a 15" macbook pro and the 24" display. It's very shiny. They're moving most people to laptops, though some people still need a tower for various purposes. t eta: though usually as a second or third system on their desk.

I really hate the weather coming at us. Have I mentioned that?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I figure if there's a disaster I have more important things to worry about.

So far, during the fires and mudslides here, I haven't. They have been travel/accessibility issues only.

I also use two external monitors (one of which is as big as my TV)

This new monitor is decently TV-sized. It's very exciting.

Remote Desktop Connection!

We were allowed to do that at my last job, but it's not okay here. I can't even remote log in from my home PC because I don't have the right anti-virus software. We have a funky RSA key keychain we need to use to log in. Very security-conscious.

We can remote in or use VPN.

Ooh, yeah, we had one of those for eRoom, except then we never used eRoom.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I now have a 15" macbook pro and the 24" display.

That's the setup I have at home now.

I have an older edition of the laptop at home, but no point in having a monitor at home. Don't much like the chiclet keyboard on the new ones, but oh well. I really need to have them get me bluetooth keyboard and mouse at work, cause the wires make me crazy.

[link] cries and cries and cries.

I may see about getting an emergency property form and telework agreement tomorrow and bring the laptop home for Friday.

I am getting cabin fever just thinking about it. Possibly 2 days without a swim! (Actually, that's part of the reason I'd like to telecommute Fri- can go to the pool early and not have to get work-dressed up afterwards. How goofy is that?) Can't get to the store! ALL THAT GODDAMN SHOVELING.

I hope the predictions are really wrong.
