Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Jilli and Cass could be a team of crack investigators... skulking around at night... finding little gothlings to help them break in to locked places with wee openings... and then SETTING WATER ON FIRE.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

WRT to the school drop off discussion: I drive Franny to school because her school is over 2 miles from our house. There's no school bus for non-resident students like herself, and she can't walk there, driving seems like our only option. That said I do realize Allyson's point was more the annoyance of parents driving high schoolers, who should be capable enough to take the bus all by themselves.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Also, in the afternoon/evenings, we would be shoo'd outside to play until dinnertime- we'd generally roam around the neighborhood as we pleased, for hours.

This was us, as well. I've mentioned before about our call home was my dad stepping out of the front door and whistling, which we could hear for a three block radius of the house, including all the way to the park. Dad was the only one who did that whistle in the neighborhood, so we knew it was dinnertime.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

See, we shouldn't do that. It's just not sensical. There should be a "well, it sucks, but so-and-so's health was more important than the work product."

I totally would have just let it go, but there's a newish process we've developed to make sure all requests have a go live date, and I think I'm the only one who gets cc'd on everything. Therefore, if I don't do the sheet, something is likely to get missed.

But hey, their network is protected, even if my health isn't.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I love that I so often know the answer to the Wait Wait Don't Tell Me "Bluff the Listener" game because of something linked here.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Dogs and cats will be living together any day now....

Pictured: Three cheetahs spare tiny antelope's life... and play with him instead

Hello little antelope, would you like to play with us?

Coming from three deadly cheetahs, it's the kind of invitation that's best refused - but amazingly, this impala escaped unscathed from its encounter.

Luckily for the youngster, it seems these three male cheetahs simply weren't hungry.

...

'At one point, they met a group of impala who ran away. But one youngster was not quick enough and the brothers caught it easily.'

These extraordinary scenes followed, as the cheetahs played with the young impala the way a domestic cat might play with a ball of string.

'They knocked it down, but then they lost interest,' said Michel. 'For more than 15 minutes, they remained with the young antelope without doing anything other than licking it or putting their paws on the impala's head.'

Even more extraordinarily, this story has a happy ending - after one tense moment when it looked as though one cheetah would bite the impala on the neck, the youngster ran away.

I don't think the impala enjoyed the game.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

This kind of proves Nutty's contention that she could take a cheetah.
