I just read 700 posts of the Zoe thing. Oh man. I was supremely pissed at being called Orwellian.
Oh, Noah, this is going to be an adjustment for you, little man.
No kidding! And he has a whole bunch of adjustments coming (leaving his daycare, going to preschool). He knows Grace is coming home for good and he talks about it, but he has No Idea.
Grace will go to preschool, a special ed classroom. Her IEP has to happen in the next month or so, and the district is going to hate me because I'm already practicing saying, "Let's take this to Due Process then." and "To meet the goals you have specified, you need to provide more services, otherwise, 30 minutes a week of OT will not work."
That thing is a fucking nightmare and he may never get it back.
Ugh. That battle sounds like such a nightmare. I'm so sorry.
Grace? Coming home this May!
How wonderful! Oh, I am so happy to read that.
leaving his daycare, going to preschool
My god, I can't believe he's that big!
What does IEP stand for?
Ugh, my primary headache meds ran out. No more for at least a week. Maybe two.
Oh, wonderful news about Grace!
Oh, ita. Ugh.
And, not Kat, but I believe it's Individual Education Plan (Program?).
msbelle, I (of course) defer to your judgment on this, but do you think mac uses the DS to self medicate? Like it's a way to distract him the way some people use cat-stacking or computer solitaire?
I do recognize that it's causing a shit-load of problems, though.
Super excited about Grace coming home.
I think Noah will deal. It's an adjustment but young kids have to make those adjustments all the time, like when they change caregivers or move up to nursery school, kindergarten, 1st grade etc.
They're pretty flexible at that age.
I think he does some, but it is NOT a calming force. It is the only thing he lies to me about, the main thing that has caused fights at the two afterschools.
Thank goodness for Grace that you and K know the ropes already, that'll be an enormous extra help.
I hope mac finds more effective coping techniques than diversion into the DS.
Ugh, ita, that blows.
My god, I can't believe he's that big!
HA! I know. His daycare person and I were talking and she said, it's hard to believe that this verbal and bossy little guy was the same one who came to her on oxygen and monitors.
What does IEP stand for?
Amy beat me to it. It's a special ed thing. But it's also a seriously litigious area of the school district's world and they do not want to be taken to court because of IDEA and ADA.
