I walk. I talk. I shop, I sneeze. I'm gonna be a fireman when the floods roll back. There's trees in the desert since you moved out. And I don't sleep on a bed of bones.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I use vermouth almost exclusively as a white wine substitute in cooking, so I've never bothered to refrigerate it. I will start buying smaller bottles though.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

For good cheap vodka, Jon swears by Monopolova.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I'm not sure what he ended up doing but I know he was struggling over what to tell these communities she'd been a part of. I think he just let it lie.

While I understand why he'd choose not to say anything I'd think most communities would appreciate the truth. I know I'd prefer a "sorry about all the Walter Mitty stuff" to all the unanswered questions.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Because it's professional bowling. It doesn't seem like a mystery to me.

It makes me sad when bowling gets dissed. It must be my small-town Wisconsin background.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

That iO9 article is like a piece of food caught in my teeth. We didn't move from TT to stop bugging people. We moved because it went pay to play, and we didn't want to lose people who couldn't afford to subscribe.

And wasn't the thread at TT already started when someone said "Don't anger the buffistas?"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you're using it for anything other than on the rocks or martinis/gimlets, I don't think there's no reason to buy expensive vodka

Straight up and gimlets is about all I use vodka for. And I'm realising that Grey Goose isn't that expensive--outside of bars.

So I'm at:

  • Oban
  • Grey Goose
  • Old Overholt or other whisk(e)y
  • Herradura/Cabo Wabo silver tequila (2 votes each)
  • Noilly Pratt vermouth

Gin recommendation?

And I totally get the bowling story getting lost in the background. Tennis and car racing and golf get coverage all by themselves.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I think Monopolova is what I used to make Laura's Kahlua recipe last weekend. (It turned out wonderfully, by the way. Thanks, Laura!)

We didn't move from TT to stop bugging people.

I thought maybe it could be read that the Buffy thread was formed at TT to stop bugging people, but that's not true either--it was one TV thread amongst many others. It's just plain not a true article. Bothers.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In my Drinking Days, I fully believed that a better vodka made for a better hangover, but I don't know if that's actually true. And I was comparing Stoli to plastic bottles. Smirnoff is fine.

Oh hey, the guy on Gray's whose character name I still don't know is on today's Ellen. His real name is Jesse! Also, he was a teacher before he became an actor.
