It was Minearverse 1, I think. I found this:

This post in no way endorses the use of emoticons.
Disturbingly, a catalogue of television tropes, idioms, and devices actually sounds like it would be a useful resource.
When your dating pool contains only academics, you must learn to discuss these things or just give up and buy a RealDoll.

Further upthread, there was some discussion of a resource for quick lookups of tv conventions. I've put up a quick Wiki that might become such a thing. It is here. Any beta activity would be appreciated.

a Sarameg wasn't real?
HEY both the west and east coast have met me! And my parents! (Sorry, middle states.)
The irony (to me) in that is when I was a student in Prague, my across-the-hall-suitemate/mentor/freshman-mommy who had graduated was also living there, and I spent a lot of time with her, but my fellow abroad-mates never had occasion to meet her, despite my attempts. She was referred to as my imaginary friend. Kind of hilarious when I spent at least one or two nights a week crashing at my "imaginary friend"'s place after going out clubbing or whatever with her. I do wonder what people thought I was doing. I invited a lot, but never got taken up on it.
Kristen, FTW! Hec, send that to Annalee and discredit this Fast Eddie figment.
Sara, you're so cute. I wasn't doubting your realness; dude, your awesome neighbors would vouch for you.
Cute=fuzzy. Not fuzzy!
Sorry, old joke.
And my neighbors ARE awesome.
Heh, not fuzzy. I don't suppose "adorable" would be any better?
Mrph.
Me and Prague roomate had an ongoing argument about cute. Took almost 6 months to conclude. We finally settled on cute=fuzzy. Therefore, we were not cute.
Then she had a fuzzy kid and it is all muddled now.
The easiest way to do that search would've been to search COMM.
I have read up on the start of tvtropes and I feel much better. I just wish I could fix io9. Someone is wrong on the internet, and they're really wrong, mummy! They're being deceived!
Actually, I think adorkable now fills the hole we had issues with.
