Admiral Ackbar for Ole Miss Mascot
Yesterday, students at the University of Mississippi voted to update their image with a new mascot. The previous mascot Colonel Reb, who resembles a antebellum plantation owner, hasn’t been seen at a game since 2003, due to his Confederate symbolism. Who, or what, will the new mascot be? The athletic teams at Ole Miss are the Rebels, so the logical symbol would be Admiral Ackbar, the highest ranking member of the Rebel Alliance in the Star Wars universe. Only time will tell if the students and administration at Ole Miss will embrace the campaign.
The actual website for the campaign: www.notatrap.org
Welcome to Notatrap.org. We here at Notatrap are in full support of Admiral Ackbar for the new Mascot for the Ole Miss Rebels. Who wants a Colonel when you could have an Admiral?
Apparently they won. eta: OK, they just won the vote to develop a new mascot.
I liked when both Colbert and the Daily Show used Ackbar footage for their stories on the Repubs being invited by the White House to Thursday's health-care meeting.

Family dog a hero after sticking by lost 3-year-old girl through freezing weather
Cops in Arizona are crediting a family dog with saving the life of a lost little girl.
Three-year-old Victoria Bensch wandered away from her family home in Cordes Lakes, Ariz. on Thursday and got lost in the mountains surrounding the valley.
Search parties spent the night looking for the girl as temperatures dipped below 30 degrees.
She was finally spotted 15 hours after she vanished by a helicopter pilot on Friday.
Next to her was Blue, the family's Queensland heeler.
"The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night," Dwight D'Evelyn, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, told The Arizona Republic.
...
The dog was protective of the child when they first approached, but when the girl smiled, the dog relaxed.
"I think once the dog realized we were there to help them out, he was very excited," Uhl said.
"He ran around while the medic tended to the little girl, and when it was time to go, he jumped right into the helicopter and was ready to go."
She was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital and treated for frostbite, but doctors said she was healthy despite the ordeal.
"We have to give a lot of credit to Blue," the girl's aunt told the Republic.
"He pretty much stayed with her all night."
awww heroic dog story!
My dog peed on his bed at 6 this morning. A different kind of hero, I guess.
My god, these are the most comfortable heels ever. They're precisely as comfortable as flats, at least so far in the day. Most of my heels, there's some difference, once the height is over 3/4". These are a good two inches and there's nothing wonky about them for my delicate princess-and-the-pea feet.
Awww, yay puppy!
ita, what kind of heels are those?
YAY PERKINS. I agree - is shoe time!
is shoe time!
my god, these are the most comfortable heels ever.
What brand?
Aerosoles boots. When they hit, they hit. I do have some others from them that are a bit twingey, but acceptably so. These, nothing.
