Jesse, I have a pair of Khombu boots--they are black, with a fleece lining and thermolite insulation. I can't find my exact boots but I swear by the brand for warmth, traction, waterproof and style. Mine zip up the side but also tighten with a bungee lace.

Mine are sort of like this
I was looking at those!
first priority would be traction
Yaktrax!
Hmmm....Can you put those over heels?
Found mine. They're pretty cheap, too. Not fancy but a solid boot.
I just wear Docs (with a yaktrax equivalent on ice). I've only had wetness get in around the laces when I've been shoveling snow. This topic did prompt me to measure my calves for the first time.
I went with these this year: [link]
As to the Wellies, if you're going to wear them regularly (and to the office, especially) I'd pick something easier to get on and off.
Now I have too many choices! I would just buy Cashmere's, except now I'm afraid they wouldn't fit around. I think I really have to go in person somewhere.

Good call, good call.
I also have HUGE calves, Jesse. A lifetime of toe walking has given me dancers calves.
