I didn't get to a place with Thanksgiving until I was 18, pretty much (it's not like my parents celebrated it when we were little in Canada--they never would) so it's always been an adult friend holiday for me. Even the few times I celebrated with extended family it had much less impact. T-Day is for friends, for me. Christmas is for family. Both are stripped of much of their tradition save the company and the food, but those are powerful components right there.

I've made it for friends, cause otherwise I'd have no other holiday that matters to me that didn't involve me being a daughter in some form or another, and that can have baggage, even if god baggage. Plus friends!
Dinner was sort of a disaster. I am not able to wrangle two kids and make a turkey dinner from scratch while trying to be somewhat charming to guests at the same time. I screwed up the biscuits again and I undercooked the turkey and then I had to make an emergency side dish. Dinner was almost two hours late.
Sigh.
The upside is it was 80 degrees and we ate outside which was beautiful. Grace fell asleep at the table, kind of adorably. It was good.
I must state it didn't feel or taste like a disaster, though I know it was a lot of work.

Tep is awesome, Gracie is adorable (hooray Thanksgiving at home!), I am filled to repletion with delicious food.
Kat, I fixed your link. It's the least I could do for the completely non-disastrous dinner.
This is just a quick PSA: I have photographic evidence of megan walker playing Rock Band. Really!
Also, wonderful urban family Thanksgiving as usual. We had 17 adults and 1 adorable child. Yummy food and lots of laughs.
Yay for Grace's first Thanksgiving at home! I'm sure it was delicious.
Our dinner was tasty, but I made far too much. Next year I hope someone stops me before I over produce next time. Luckily ever guest took home a box of leftovers.
So rediculickly tired.
