Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

They are lefty, service-oriented, have weekly meditation meetings, etc.

See, now that appeals, smonster. But doesn't it vary from church to church? I should find out about the churches in our area.

Oh, about Sarah Palin, does anyone else read Andrew Sullivan's blog? He is obsessed with her. It can get to be a bit much, but he sometimes has good insights.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Though to be fair, I'm not sure the audience at an Obama book signing in 2006 would have done any better.

Well, this link sure isn't flattering to Obama supporters. [link]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hearing a self-identified Christian in that video whining that her "rights" are being taken away fills me with rage. CRY MOAR, WRONG PERSON.

I can't decide who makes me cry more - that woman, or the guy who thinks there "won't be enough white people left in America" to vote for Sarah Palin for President.

I'm sure it varies some, but my understanding is that the American Episcopal church is generally welcoming and liberal. My friend is not only getting ordained as a gay priest, he and his hubby are living in student family housing at the seminary. The differences between American and other Episcopal churches in the denomination (African, for sure) is just about causing a schism.

Coding and Sleeping

Well, this link sure isn't flattering to Obama supporters.

That's pretty cringe-worthy alright.

In many cases, the reporter is asking trick questions

True, but there are some good questions in there like asking what freedoms are being taken away and such. I do wonder how much cherry picking of responses might be going on though as I always do with this sort of thing.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Not sure if this goes in Natter or Music, so I'm x-posting! Because this is just that awesome!

Muppets singing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"

An amazing number of different Muppets are featured.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The priest at the Episcopalian church I sometimes go to didn't even blink when I told her I had "Jesus issues" from growing up in an interfaith household and from some of the "Christians" who are loudest. We also pray for different religions and nominations (and not in that "may they find the light" way). They are lefty, service-oriented, have weekly meditation meetings, etc.

United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ also fit this sort of description. Sometimes kind of an intellectual bent IME, with sermons that dug into textual analysis in a way I really like. I think D of C is mostly in the South while UCC is national and should be anywhere.

My understanding is that the Episcopal Church is or has split in very distinct orgs, sort of how there are several flavors of Baptist that have their own hierarchy and very different viewpoints.
