A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I discovered RSS feeds only this week, ita, and I'm all OMG.

Being out of work is really improving my techgeekery, which isn't high, but still: I've started a blog, gotten hooked up with RSS feeds and switched my browser to Firefox. And if I didn't have to have Windows to run my iTunes, my techgeek BF would have me switched to Ubutu.

I also worked on job applications, cleaned and organized my home office area, and made this week's grocery and menu list (which include Tday, so extra foody.)

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

There's this poster up at work encouraging coming out at the workplace. It has thumbnail pics of people that did and apparently felt better.

I'm sure this is coming from a good place, but it feels icky to me. Like it's putting the onus on the gay person rather than emphasizing creating a safe environment in which the person feels comfortable coming out at work. Probably not articulating it well, but I know I'd be annoyed by such a poster in the workplace.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

That's the vibe I get too.

My first thought on "lesbian evangelist" was that this woman is a lesbian and Evangelical Christian, which might be an unusual enough combination for her to feel like coming out about both.

bon bon, was it Alessio? The one nearish us is Vitello's, which is where what's his name Robert Blake shot his wife (that IS Old School!) but it's mostly delish -- though heavy on garlic.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have 2, maybe 4, hours of work to do this week. Which means I should just get it done and get on with my life, but simultaneously means I am completely unmotivated to get started.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I feel like some groundwork has been laid prior to my arrival about making the environment a hospitable one to come out in, or so they think. There's a GLBT employee group, the aforementioned books in the lunchroom, etc. I can only imagine that there was some cultural push sometime in the past.

I have no idea how successful it might have been. Just that I've never been anywhere where out and work seem to come up together this much.

GET TO WORK JESSE!

Wow, what a MOnday so far at the office. As soon as I went to the pantry to make coffee a million other people were there trying to do the same. Of course I had decided to make a latte which takes a million times longer then just the regular coffee and puts me in the way of everyone else, so I take my shots and decide to go to the less crowded pantry downstairs to warm and foam my milk. Downstairs the milk is LUMPY (ewwww) and not one, but 2 quarts, which means the fridge is not cooling. The milk doesn't smell yet, so I think it only has been off for a bit. So I report the fritzy fridg, then go back upstairs and manage to get in while the pantry is mostly empty and get my milk finally. good lord.

I really really really really don't wanna today. I mean. I really don't want to.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Why do people who work for me not do what I tell them? It started with the volunteers this weekend (okay, I know what their problem is, they just don't want to do what they're told.)

I very specifically told my assistant to download everything that she was working on to the memory stick that I gave her. I was swapping out the computer that she managed to infect with a virus with my old computer. When I swapped out the computer, there was an IP address conflict on the network because they had changed the new computer to my old IP address. Ergo, no access to the network. This shouldn't be a problem because all of the work is on the memory stick, right? Nope. She says "I can't get to the internet and the document that I was working on is in my email"

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Bah. I broke one of our client's servers, so overnight they were getting calls from all over the world that people couldn't enter their time sheets. So my boss called me early this morning so I could come in early and fix it.

Turns out I had updated one server but forgot to update the other one. But I fixed it now, so people can enter their time sheets and get paid.
