Dawn: I thought you were adequate. Giles: And the accolades keep pouring in. I'd best take my leave before my head swells any larger. Good night.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Why does Scottish singer Paolo Nutini sing like an old black man?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What do you mean? I think I only know that New Shoes song -- that's him, right?

Because books.

He also did "Jenny, Don't Be Hasty". Least Scottish name I've ever heard, I have to say.

The twice I've seen him sing they've been soulsy numbers, him hunched over and waggling an index finger for emphasis. Didn't see that coming.

So...if you drink an entire pot of chai, eat only an apple and a quarter of a tortilla with a slice of ham? Your whole swim, you'll feel like you've taken a hit of albuterol or whatever that inhaler was I had to use when I got bronchitis. Oh my god, that was weird. Fast, and probably the evenest swim I've had, but I though my head was about to spin off or evaporate or something.

OK, shower and errands.

I went for a walk in the neighborhood, and was not that excited. I did go to the bakery that got mentioned all the time in craigslist ads, and it was good, but not life-changing. Also, mobbed. I dunno, Boston.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Back Bay is not so much with the exciting. I'd head over to Cambridge. Get on the Red Line!

I was in the South End. The Back Bay is totally exciting! They have a Jonathan Adler store! I mean, among other things.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Okay, I take it back. Isn't there a Pizzeria Regina in South End?

I dunno. There's a Regina's in the mall food court across the street from me, though.
