Sometimes when I'm sitting in class... You know, I'm not thinking about class, 'cause that would never happen. I think about kissing you. And it's like everything stops. It's like, it's like freeze frame. Willow kissage.

Because books.

They were always whip-its in our school, smonster.

Alcohol was the easiest to get, and thus the most abused, but there was plenty of pot and also a lot of coke in my high school. (Remember, I graduated in 1985.) We were also 25 miles from NYC and had a lot of ways to get our hands on stuff. I actually remember the place next to the McDonald's off Sixth Avenue in the Village where people used to get the whip-its.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The only time I've ever done recreational drugs other than alcohol was when I attended a Grateful Dead concert and got a mild buzz and sore throat from all the secondhand joint smoke.

It did NOT mellow me out, as I recall being ready to throw down with the grinning halfwits who thought it'd be fun to get it on in one of two available stalls when there was a huge line for the men's room.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Pot was easier to get in my high school than alcohol, for sure.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Whippets were not around my high school at all. Alcohol (legal drinking age back then was 18, so yeah), pot, coke, LSD, and the ever lovely heroin. In HS, all I was personally acquainted with was alcohol. I graduated in '86.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Pot was easier to get in my high school than alcohol, for sure.

If I'd wanted alcohol in high school, I could have just taken it from my parents' liquor cabinet or the fridge. Pot would have required a bit more effort, since (as far as I know) there wasn't any in my house.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I went to the "good" high school in my area. Our kids were better than everyone else. And then Jay Johnson, track star and honor student, got busted for selling coke. DRAMA. The parents were flipping out (I can't believe this happened at Woodbridge ), all the kids were completely blase

Coding and Sleeping

There was plenty of alcohol at my high school and pot was pretty easy to come by as well. I didn't do anything, the couple of times I tried alcohol the only affect was nausea and I hated the taste. Thus I became the designated driver like everywhere. I was around people who smoking pot and doing LSD, but it didn't look especially fun. The LSD in particular seemed to elicit some after school special badness, the last high school party I went to (as a College Freshman home during the summer) had some people doing LSD and it went really bad. My friend and I did some first aid for a couple of people and then got the hell out of there.
