I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm listening to an MP3 of Eliot reading "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufock." I love this poem so much.

In the room, the women come and go, talking of Michelangelo.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I hear the mermaids singing, each to each
I do not think that they will sing for me

Because books.

Aw, I adore Prufrock. It's gorgeous, and so much fun to pick apart.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Star Trekkin' across the universe / On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk / Star Trekkin' across the universe / Only going forward, still can't find reverse.

That's what's in my head.

Quick poll:

URL: earl, or ewe-arr-ell? If the latter, how wrong is the former?

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

ewe-arr-ell

If the latter, how wrong is the former?

In my head, "earl" is wrong. So wrong, I was truly confused by it for a few seconds trying to decipher the meaning.

Very wrong. I think I have heard "ew-errl." But really, it's three letters. Spell it out.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Wikipedia says it can be pronounced as an acronym or an initialism, like FAQ.

I was told, just once, that techies pronounced the letters. I'd been off and on saying earl up till then (this was in the baby days of the web). Since then I've been ewe-arr-ell quite religiously. But now I'm hearing earl more, and I'm wondering if things are laxer. A wikipedia editor seems to think so. Ewe-errl is wronger than that, though, for sure.

I hate hearing VOIP pronounced. I think you can't help but sound dumb. I try to say voice over IP every time.
