People tend to think humans aren't very special, except for our intelligence. But we are special for other reasons too. Human bipedal locomotion is very efficient. Plus we sweat, so we can get rid of excess heat efficiently.

Did you know on a very hot day, a human could beat a horse in a marathon? (A horse would overheat dangerously if it ran that far on a very hot day.) (That's not in the NOVA thing, but something I read recently.)

Why is it that the ear that doesn't routinely fill with water? Is the itchy one? (And yes, I treat both with alcohol and vinegar to ward off infection. I think it is just irritation, rather than infection of some sort.)

It would help if I used earplugs, but I hate them.

Good cat night: MK is feeling like his old self after the time change (messes with his insulin as I move the times) because he's humping my shoulder (yeah, I know, the warped things that reassure), Loki is a total attention-seeking boo and Devi was all talky tonight. All good.
