I was most worried about Dom after LoTR was done, but he went and got on Lost. He was dating Evangeline Lilly too for a while.
The LoTR movie thread was fun.
It was nice rewatching the trilogy last week while Emmett and I were both fluish. LoTR and Harry Potter are two phenomenons which will define the Oughties, I think.
I remember Scola arriving in town in December and we had a day off together.
Me: What do you want to do?
Tom: Well, Return of the King is opening...
Me: Yeah!
Also, I vividly remember dragging Emmett to the movies when he was too young to be looking at such ghastly and scary Orcs. Then he went and got himself a big, cool, scary Sauron action figure. It rumbled "Build me an army worthy of Mordor."
Also, Emmett hid behind the chairs during Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets during the basilisk battle.
Fortunately, he never got nightmares from these things and after he saw them once he wasn't scared on the rewatch.

LotR actors. For the explosion the movies were, they haven't really done all that much.
Actually, I think they've managed to capitalize on their LotR exposure very well. Viggo went from almost quitting acting completely before he was cast to being the lead in some very high-profile films and getting nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. EW went from child actor in transitition to indie film lead actor. Sean Astin was getting journeyman character roles beforehand and has since scored some decent screentime on tv and voiceover work. Dom has gotten some films as well as Lost and Flash Forward.
Orlando was already addressed above, and the Australian/NZ actors are all doing very well, indeed--John Noble is starring in Fringe, Mirando Otto had that TV series and has gotten several films, and Karl Urban is now Bones in yet another successful film franchise. Oh, and David Wenham is getting tons of character film roles.

I miss the LotR days. The Hobbit days can never be the same.
Completely this. I'm reconciled with letting go of 'topping' experiences. I enjoy them for what they are, but it would be nice to feel like that again.
On the other note, I don't need Robin to be merry (though merry does, indeed, rock) but the trailer makes this iteration seem so, completely derivative of the Russ and Rid Show. Not that I blame them, but I won't be racing to see the film.
Is it wrong to say I'm sure I enjoyed the corny, most recent Beeb version more than I could this movie? Yeah. I suppose it's wrong.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
The movies were HUGE, though. I'd have thought there would have been more stars coming out of them. Rich actors, sure. As for Elijah Wood, he was going to be an indie film lead actor the moment he scored well in The Ice Storm.
While it's possible that they were all indie types who fell into a mainstream blockbuster, I'm surprised that only Orlando fell right into more mainstream movie blockbusters. He's in, what, 4 of the top 15 grossers of the past decade or so? But even so, despite his immediate heartthrob status he failed at being a romantic lead and is considering dropping out of film.
Power to them if it translated right into what they wanted--the power to only do what they wanted to do from then forwards. But I do remember reading about Viggo having financial/project problems after LotR was done, and I thought it a damned shame.

I remember an interview with EW where he said that he only got $1m for the trilogy, not including whatever bonuses given to the actors later.

I have liked Billy Boyd's independent stuff and am glad to see that he's kept busy. Somehow, I imagine a lower profile is his choice.
