We saw
Much Ado About Nothing
tonight. Man, Clark Gregg was born to be filmed in black and white. I mean REALLY. I can't really explain why he just stood out to me, but he just looked so very right in B/W.
Also, holy jeebus, Joss Whedon's HOUSE.
Otherwise, uh, I think I watched the Kenneth Branagh version too much at an impressionable age. (What? I was impressionable at 22!) I couldn't help comparing the two films, particularly Beatrice and Benedick, and I found that I really preferred the Branagh version.
I feel traitorous.
Well, Branagh may have skotch more Shakespeare training.
My neighbor's kids are named Beatrice and Benedict (not twins). They swear it was unintentional.
I would like to see Branagh do MacBeth. I loved his Henry V and Hamlet.
How was Fillion's HodgeDogberry?
Definitely good. He and Tom Lenk were hilarious together. (Is Tom Lenk tiny, or Fillion huge, or both?)
I forgot how ridiculously attractive Alexis Denisof and Sean Maher are. (And remembered how much I like scruffy!Wesley.)
I would like to see Branagh do Macbeth.
You know that he's going to be playing the role soon, right? Alongside Alex Kingston as Lady M.:

The performance will be shown in UK cinemas as part of the National Theatre Live programme, but I don't know if will be available in the US.
Edit: it looks as though it will be shown in some US cinemas and they're "announcing more venues shortly". This is the relevant webpage:

I'm still always going to be sad that I'll never see Alan Cummings' one-man Macbeth, but Branagh/Kingston sounds like an excellent consolation prize (if prize is even an appropriate word for that play (and now I have to go rewatch S2 of
Slings & Arrows
right now)).
I really, really loved the Whedon ensemble
Much Ado.
Better than Branagh's? I dunno, and I dun care. It's Shakespeare; it's meant to have multiple takes on it out there floating around. I want
more Much Ados.
More all of them. Except that really all the
Much Ados
from now on into perpetuity should have Fillion and Lenk.
