Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Just saw "Stories We Tell" the Sarah Polley documentary. Very well and thoughtfully done. I was enthralled the whole time.
I don't know if he's seen that. He might like it, who knows. He's 18.
So after thinking more about Star Trek. I think my expectations were too high. I think if the same basic premise was shown in a non Star Trek format (but with the same actors) I would have enjoyed it more. And lens flare showed up once. Instead I was expecting...I wanted to have the same feeling as when I saw The Avengers. and then Iron Man 3.

Oo, I want to see that.

When did the SyFy Friday night monstermash folks start sending movies to the fucking Cannes?
That just makes me worry that John Heard has big medical bills or a gambling problem.
Interesting--I think the HBO special on Fast 6 gives away too many of the stunts (and enough for you to predict plot points), but it has increased my appreciation of the movie--all the cars flying through the air were cars flying through the air. The actors did more driving than I'd thought, and Gisele says she did all her stunts.
And it made me reconsider Gina Carano's big fight, and...it was the best one in the movie. There are some really good ones, but hers was the best. I'd really like it if Joss were watching, and the Black Widow's physicality was more like ANY of the women in this movie. How wack is that?
I might end up buying 5 and 6, now that I think about it.
And as I was typing that, a promo for TDKR came on, and apparently my feels are still installed, Batwise.
Does anyone know if Much Ado About Nothing will be in wide release? I've been trying to find info on where and when it will show, and I'm finding nothing.

I don't think it has a distributor yet. I've only heard of showings at film fests.
It will be playing at one theater in SF, as far as we can tell.
