I guess it's a double feature?
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Article speculating on additional characters in Avengers 2 based on a comment that Joss made in an IM3 red carpet interview that's also embedded in the article. [link]
(I hope that was sufficiently explanatory yet non-spoilery. Article/interview is potentially spoilery if one considers speculation based on vague comments as such.)
Hmm. I am intrigued.
I don't understand this Avengers post: [link]
For a few reasons. I think they did sexualise Black Widow. I think she so clearly wasn't the central character, and if one of the male characters had done all those things, he would have been the central character too--doing the pivotal tasks to the saving of the world does not make you central to the movie--the film's emphasis was more on Tony and Steve than her. For all they cite her badassedness, that second GIF is painful to watch. That's not how you effectively use guns. Her working out how to fly the skimmer wasn't badassed--it was nonsensical. They coulda made it badassed, but they didn't.
If the poster wants to highlight ways in which the potential of the character was undercut by the writing, directing, and how they had lower standards for ScarJo's stuntwork making it to the screen (the behind the scenes stuff looks better, so I'm not blaming her for it--I just think her character's effectiveness wasn't prioritised as much as the male heroes' was).
At least I don't have the energy to reblog and put that comment on it, because it's really not the place, but..dammit! I don't want to settle for a sub par "badassed" female character. I want them to excel like the male ones. Don't drop one of the bars and call it success. Progress maybe, but not success.
Does anyone have buzz on Don Jon's Addiction? All I've seen is this pic of JGL: [link] so naturally I'm chomping at the bit. But perspective doesn't often go awry.
Actual conversation in our house:
[The classical music station is on]
Me: Hey, I know this piece...it's what was playing in Avengers when Loki was at the opera!
Tim: Loki didn't go to the opera.
Me: Uh, when he was in Germany, at the opera house?
Tim: That was a fundraiser.
Me: Loki had a fundraiser?
Tim: No, he was there for an eyeball.
Me: Why would that need a fundraiser???
Tim: [disgusted silence]
New Pacific Rim trailer!!! Want nooooooow.
Some may remember me posting here last year about my local theater doing a silent film series with live Wulitzer music. Last year we saw The General, and we enjoyed it so much that this year we saw Wings. So much Hoyay! I had never seen a full film with Clara Bow in it before (although I did know who she was). I can see why she was the "It Girl". There was also a minute long appearance by a young Gary Cooper.
Unbelievably cool Iron Man 3 poster than none of us get: [link]
