A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. the elderly couple in the bed.

I can't remember their names, but she refused to get in the lifeboat without him, he naturally wouldn't go yet, so she quite calmly walked away from the boats.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Strauses, right?

Sounds right. I was thinking Strauss and going, "No, that's waltzes."

Yeah, Ida and Isidor Straus. Macy's! [link] (I know this because I used to live across from Straus park.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Yeah, it's not so much a "too popular" issue as a "stop telling me what to do with my time, even nicely" issue for me.

I love the clothing styles from the Titanic period. If I ever got married, I'd probably see about finding something similar to one of Rose's outfits as a wedding dress (money and time permitting).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

a "stop telling me what to do with my time, even nicely" issue for me.

Then don't tell anyone you saw it? It's not like the movie knows the difference.

Because books.

I love Titanic pretty unironically, despite the emotional manipulation and the tragedy porn of it all. And I do love the era and the clothes. And the cast! The cast is great.

Remember, the J. Peterman company produced replicas. They still turn up on eBay every now and then. (Hi, I have a saved search for the embroidered red silk boots.)

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Okay, shallow news. I was googling Clark Gregg and discovered he was married to Jennifer Grey, which led me to pics of her pre and post nose-job. And . . . I think this is the first time that I approved of plastic surgery. She's gorgeous.
