Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Sparky, you were the first person I thought of. I'm so glad your dh is not involved. God, the pictures are chilling. One train on top of the other, sheered open like a tin can.

Ooh, that accident looks bad. I explained to Dillo that I was sad about a train crash and people getting hurt, and he earnestly told me that "they were wearing their SEAT BELTS." Somehow I doubt that would have helped.

I did not know about the Varsity pens, and they come in pink! I used to use a fountain pen; I should get back into it. I hate ball points. I just never write much any more.

That which does not kill you should RUN

The document looks clean as a whistle in Word and like a fucking multicolor nightmare in PDF, and I can't find any other edit/proofing anything to opt out of.

JZ, in Word, did you click on the green checkmark that means "Accept All Changes"? Because just turning off the "Show changes/reviewers/etc" doesn't make them go away.

That's my best guess.

t edit Sometimes I highlight the entire document and click on the Accept All Changes checkmark.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Sigh. I tried that and the upload just crapped out, so now I have to wait another 20 minutes before trying again. Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, how I hate thee!

I've had similar experiences JZ and the frustration burns.

In desperation, I've cut and pasted the entire text into a new document in hopes of leaving the formatting poltergeists behind. Sometimes it works.

JZ, I looked at their site, and I'm curious -- you upload the Word doc, and then their site makes it a PDF? Weird.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

LiveLink will do that too.

Last time I tried that, the poltergeists traveled. I haven't even tried it this time; I just assumed it was one of those clever ideas that never really works. I'll have to upgrade that to "sometimes."

P-C, the PDF is a giant composite of all the MS bits that have been uploaded: Word doc, tables, figures as JPEGs or GIFs or whatnot, etc.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Some of the federal govt funding sites do that, too.

Scary train crash!

And I don't get keyboard cat, either...yet. It may grow on me?

I have turned my day around with a manicure and Panera, even though he didn't grill my panini long enough.
